             LAMBETH SWORN IN AS NC HOUSE MEMBER

           Donny Lambeth has been sworn in as a member of the N. C. House of Representatives in a special ceremony at the Old Salem Visitors Center.
            Justice Paul Newby of the North Carolina Supreme Court administered the oath of office to Lambeth before more than 100 family and friends from Donny’s years at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth school system and in the Moravian community.
            While he will be officially sworn in January 9, Donny wanted a convenient opportunity for friends to attend the ceremony.
            Donny’s wife of 39 years, Pam, held the Bible as Justice Newby administered the oath of office.  They were joined on stage by their four daughters, grandchildren and other family members.
            Newby spoke in the historic setting as he cited the Moravian settlement as an example of American forefathers who hungered in their souls for freedom.  Newby cited the authority citizens grant to their representatives in the General Assembly to protect their rights and freedom.
            Donny recognized his predecessor, retiring Rep. Bill McKee, retiring Rep. Dale Folwell, who served with Donny on the School Board, and Sen. Pete Brunstetter.
            Terry Hicks from Winston-Salem/Forsyth Schools played the 19th century David Tannenburg pipe organ.  Jonathan Sidden directed the Ensemble from Parkland High School, Donny’s alma mater.  They sang “The Star Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful.”
            Donny’s minister, The Rev. Walter Bishop, closed the ceremony with a prayer, calling Donny a “man of faith.”
            The General Assembly begins its session January 9 with an organizational meeting, and the first business session is scheduled for January 30.
